Meet the Teacher: Fiber artist, designer, quilter, and author, Grace J. Errea, began quilting in 2000. Her art focuses on the depiction of inspiring scenes in a valued based contemporary-realistic manner. She feels fortunate to have many of her quilts become exhibited in juried shows and be recognized for their innovation in technique and depiction of the subject chosen.
In 2005 she chose to retire from a very successful career as an executive in a Fortune 500 compute company to devote herself to her art on a full-time basis. Grace is a self-taught artist and her work illustrates and has been recognized for exceptional primary use of values and secondary use of color. Her focus on value makes it easy for her and her students to create inspiring botanicals, landscape scenes and portraits, in any color.
Grace’s signature techniques in her work have been the use of Value in her design, and the use of her own developed “Heat-Set” collage with templates technique in the execution step.
She has shown her art and taught overseas and in locations all across the United States. Her class offerings are well attended, in demand, and are presented in fun, informal, and educational manner.
